After School Learning Center

For young people who are at risk and struggling, the Learning Center is a game changer.

The after-school Learning Center serves at-risk and vulnerable adolescents in Hempstead. We help a wide range of youth, including those in foster care and those from struggling families.

The Program
We work with people ages 14 to 24. The Learning Center helps prepare young people for employment, college and successful adulthood.

No challenge is too daunting. Whether homeless, in foster care, financially or emotionally challenged, the first step is to enroll in FCA’s “Step Up to Success” project.  READ MORE.

We offer workshops on:

  • Creating a resume
  • Preparing for job interviews
  • Health and nutrition
  • Writing a winning essay for a college application
  • Financial literacy
  • “Straight-Talk” and much more

The hours between 3 and 7 p.m. are the most dangerous for young people in terms of teen pregnancy, gang involvement and juvenile crime.
