FCA Raises More Than $172,000 at Annual Golf & Tennis Tournament

LOCUST VALLEY, NEW YORK, September 20, 2018 – Family & Children’s Association (FCA), held its 2018 Golf & Tennis Tournament on September 17th at the newly renovated Creek Club in Locust Valley, New York. The event brought together longstanding FCA supporters as well as those newly introduced to FCA’s. In addition to the golf and tennis play, participants enjoyed a variety of ways to win sought-after prizes through auction items, raffles and challenging competitions along the golf course.

During the evening reception, FCA honored James W. Cahill, President of the NYS Building & Construction Trades Council. A lifetime New Yorker, Mr. Cahill dedicated nearly 50 years to the United Association and has demonstrated exceptional leadership in the labor movement. In 2012, he was appointed President of the NYS Building & Construction Trades Council by its Executive Board, and was soon elected into the position by Council members. Additionally, Mr. Cahill serves as a member of the New York State AFL-CIO Executive Council.

Mr. Cahill commented on the event, “I am truly humbled to be honored by such an impactful organization that maintains a reputable and longstanding history for protecting and strengthening vulnerable Long Islanders.” Cahill continued, “There is a great need to support organizations such as FCA and I am glad to have met many of the people leading the crucial work they do for the community.”

The event raised more than $172,000, proceeds of which will benefit FCA’s mission to protect and strengthen Long Island’s most vulnerable children, seniors, families and our communities.

“It was a pleasure to honor James at this year’s Golf and Tennis Outing for his longtime contributions to the construction field,” said Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds, President/CEO, FCA. Reynolds continued, “As FCA continues to expand its programs and services, it is important to recognize leaders from different industries, connect them to our mission and together help build a stronger sense of community so Long Island benefits as a whole.
