FCA Seeks Volunteers Who Have a Passion For Recovery From Addiction
MINEOLA, NEW YORK, July 23rd, 2019 – FCA (Family & Children’s Association) is seeking volunteers for their THRIVE Nassau Recovery Community and Outreach Center and THRIVE Everywhere, a variety of recovery services offered within Long Island communities.
Volunteers are crucial to FCA’s mission and the continued support of Long Island’s most vulnerable individuals. THRIVE volunteer roles include community outreach, front desk administration, facility greeters, group facilitators, workshop coordinators and more. If you are looking for a meaningful way to improve the quality of life for those who need support and guidance along their path to recovery, this opportunity is for you.
A current THRIVE volunteer shared the following on her experience with the program: “I entered Thrive and instantly felt that for the first time I was home! I was welcomed with open arms. I felt an immediate sense of belonging and family. I jumped right in and started creating ways and means to be of service to the community and to the THRIVE staff. I started volunteering at the front desk and recently as a result of having such a positive experience at THRIVE and wanting to become even more involved, I applied for and was hired as a Program Coordinator for SHERPA Program. My volunteer experience at THRIVE has opened a door for me that I never thought I would walk through.”

THRIVE focuses on helping individuals and families find, maintain and strengthen their recovery through peer-based support, navigation assistance and referral services; provide interactive educational programs that promote wellness, economic prosperity and civic engagement; and maintain a safe, welcoming haven for substance-free recreational and social activities.
Launched in response to our community need for a safe, substance-free place, THRIVE Suffolk was the first and only of its kind on Long Island. Since its inception, THRIVE Suffolk has been joined by THRIVE Nassau as of May 2019 and THRIVE Everywhere. Members of the recovery community and their families can pursue better skills, better relationships and ultimately better lives.
