Adopt-a-Family Campaign Brings Holiday Cheer to FCA Families

For the past 12 years, FCA’s Adopt-a-Family campaign has helped to brighten the holiday season for many Long Islanders in need. The heartfelt initiative provides opportunities for individuals, families, organizations, corporations and schools to donate gifts to FCA’s program participants. Presents are distributed according to a wish list that donors receive, comprised of items ranging from clothing to electronics.

Sixty-five donors generously contributed to the 2018 campaign, touching the lives of 194 families from 12 FCA programs, including SNUG, YAC, Family Support, Nursery Co-Op, Learning Center, EISEP, HER TURN, Walkabout, Nassau Haven, PACT, Lakeview House and West Nassau Residence.

Henry Schein, Inc., a contributor to several past Adopt-a-Family Campaigns, adopted 23 families and continued to make the holidays magical for FCA’s program participants. New York Islanders players and their families were also front and center during the initiative, gathering at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow to distribute presents to 49 recipients from FCA’s Lynn Vanderhall Nursery Co-Op. Other contributors to the Adopt-a-Family Campaign included Nassau Counselors’ Association and FCA Board Member April Intrabartola. Ms. Intrabartola and her colleagues adopted 50 kids from FCA’s Learning Center, organizing a grab bag gift drive and hosting a fun party for the youth to enjoy. In addition, members of the Leadership Council coordinated a successful gift card drive for HER TURN.

Every gift giveaway came with a smile during our 2018 campaign, epitomizing the wonderful community spirit of everyone involved. Thanks to all who participated
