Garden City, N.Y., (September 24, 2021) - FCA, a leading health and human services nonprofit organization on Long Island, today celebrated the official opening of its new Garden City headquarters and Treiber Family Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house reception. The 28,000 square-foot space at 377 Oak Street was donated by longtime FCA board member Scott Treiber, whose family owns the office space.
“As an organization, we are deeply indebted to Scott and the entire Treiber family for this most generous gift and for their ongoing support over many years,” said Dr. Jeffrey L. Reynolds, FCA President and CEO. “While the move has been planned for several years, the timing proved ideal. We were able to incorporate Covid safety measures into our buildout of the space, accommodate expanded telehealth operations and make our services more accessible overall. We couldn’t have done it without the Treibers.”
He added that FCA’s new office, which has off street parking and an elevator, will greatly improve the delivery of senior services, mental health counseling, and addiction support.
Throughout FCA’s 137 years of service to the community, its workspace has never played a leading role; its emphasis has always been first to direct resources to help its clients. Over time, however, required maintenance and updates to the long-occupied Mineola building led the Board to consider alternatives. Scott Treiber stepped up with his offer that FCA occupy the space his family’s insurance company had formerly inhabited.
“The entire Treiber family has a decades-long relationship of support for FCA, “ said Scott Treiber, managing partner at Treiberx4. “The time was right to take our commitment to the next level. FCA’s work with vulnerable kids, seniors, and people of all ages struggling with mental health or substance disorders is integral to a healthier Long Island. We believe in FCA’s ability to make a tangible difference in the life of all Long Islanders. This gift is a win-win for us all.”
Once the decision to relocate was made, FCA’s former headquarters at 100 East Old Country Road hit the market, selling in early 2020. Working with TPG Architecture, the transformation to a 21st century headquarters got underway and was completed in Spring 2021.
Technology, accessibility, workstation, and conference room design were geared to operating in a post Covid world. To keep multiple users safe, all workstation surface areas are washable and have disposable liners. Monitors were installed in all the conference rooms to facilitate telehealth sessions, which have proven to be highly successful for some clients.
“We were compelled to employ virtual technology such as Zoom and webcams during the lockdown,” explains Reynolds, “but we quickly discovered that these technologies enabled us to see more clients, many of whom preferred a virtual visit because of scheduling or transportation issues.”
“The new location has given us a so much more than additional space and services for our clients. It has given us a brighter, safer and overall healthier environment that benefits all of us. It’s beautiful, modern and welcoming.”
FCA is a not-for-profit agency helping more than 30,000 Long Islanders each year. For the last 137 years, the organization has worked to protect and strengthen vulnerable children, seniors, families and communities on Long Island.

The Treiber Family Foundation, founded by Howard and Hope Treiber, has a long history of support for Long Island organizations and institutions in addition to FCA, including Winthrop University Hospital, The Long Island YMCA, Glen Cove YMCA, and SCO (St Christopher-Ottilie). The Foundation is managed by the Treiber family’s six adult children.
