FCA Elects Calvin Lawrence to Board of Trustees

MINEOLA, N.Y., (November 16, 2020) – FCA, one of Long Island’s oldest and largest not-for-profit organizations, has named Calvin Lawrence as the newest member of its Board of Trustees.

Calvin Lawrence Jr. is Director of Community Affairs & Newsroom Development at Newsday, where he is responsible for the media company’s community outreach efforts and the recruiting, training, and overall well-being of Newsday journalists. He previously worked for ABC News as a digital news editor after his first stint at calvin.jpgNewsday, where he held various editing positions over 18 years. He has also reported or edited for the Miami Herald, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Ann Arbor News and USA Today.

Calvin serves as a board member and secretary for the Greater Jamaica Development Corp., a Queens economic development nonprofit, and he is also a long-time swim instructor at the YMCA. Calvin earned degrees at Bucknell University and the University of Missouri. He was born and raised in Baltimore, and currently resides in Holliswood, Queens, with his wife, Beverly.
