Privacy Statement
Privacy Statement
Family & Children’s Association (FCA) strongly believes in protecting the privacy and integrity of personally identifiable information gathered from visitors to our website. Because the protection of your privacy is important to us, we have created this policy and posted it in a prominent location on our website to communicate our information collection and dissemination practices. As we add more features and services to our site and as new laws regarding the use of the Internet develop, we may update this privacy policy. We do not anticipate, however, making significant policy changes that would diminish our commitment to protect the privacy of visitors to our website.
What Information We Collect
You are not required to share personally identifiable information in order to use FCA’s website. Personally identifiable information is information that can be linked to a specific individual, such as a name, address, phone number or email address. You can view most portions of the FCA website without telling us who you are and without revealing any personally identifiable information. Using commercially available statistical reporting software, FCA analyzes numeric Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to monitor trends, manage our website, track visitor movement and click-through behavior and gather broad demographic information about our audience that is not personally identifiable. This information helps our staff better understand site usage patterns as well as the types of content and information that may help improve your experience on our site.
We gather personally identifiable information when you make a donation to FCA online, and when you request additional information from us to be delivered electronically or via mail. We never collect personally identifiable information without your express permission and we never collect information beyond that which is absolutely necessary to take the requested action.
Parental Controls
We recognize that parents/guardians and caregivers are concerned about the privacy of their families and especially that of their children. Though not geared towards children, FCA’s website meets published guidelines for safeguarding the privacy of children. We define children as those who are under the age of thirteen. We will not collect online contact or personal information about children without prior parental consent or parental notification, which will include an opportunity for the parent to prevent use of the information and participation in the activity. Without prior consent, online information will only be used to respond directly to the child’s request and will not be used for other purposes. This information will not be distributed to third parties, be publicly posted or otherwise distributed without prior parental consent. Nothing will be done to entice a child, by the prospect of a special game, prize or activity to divulge more information than is needed to participate in the activity.
How We Use Personally Identifiable Information
We use the personally identifiable information you give us to process your requests for information and to process donations you make via secure credit card forms on our website. FCA, its Internet Service Providers (ISP) and web host employ a variety of security measures designed to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Databases containing personal information are secured using high level encryption and complex passwords. Information is accessed only by approved FCA staff, volunteers and contractors using established protocols and under close supervision.
When you make an online donation to FCA, we will acknowledge receipt of your donation for tax purposes electronically and/or via mail and, if you ask us to, include you on FCA’s mailing list. If you subsequently change your mind about being on our mailing list, we will immediately honor your removal request. Instructions for doing so are detailed below and are included in on our printed and electronic communications.
When you send a donation in honor or in memory of someone and request that an acknowledgment be sent to another individual/family, we will use the name and address of that individual/family for acknowledgment purposes only.
Email You Send to FCA
If you choose to correspond with FCA through email, we may retain the content of your email messages together with your email address and our responses. We provide the same protections for these electronic communications that we employ in the maintenance of information received by mail and telephone. Any email we receive is read only by those individuals who are essential to answering the question(s) presented. As a general rule, you should never send personal health, financial or other sensitive information via email.
Disclosure to Third Parties
Personally identifiable data can only be accessed by authorized FCA personnel and its agents. We preserve the confidentiality, security and integrity of that information. We never share, sell, transfer or disclose personal information to third parties.
Links
As a convenience to our visitors, we may provide links to third-party websites. It is our hope that these sites provide users with current, relevant and useful information. Linked sites, however, are not under our control, and we make no representation and are not responsible for the quality, suitability, functionality or legality of any sites to which we may provide links. We urge you to check the privacy policy of any website you visit.
